He is currently a leading commentator for Channel 7 Sport, covering AFL and cricket, and worked for over a decade on ABC Grandstand. Alister’s upcoming picture book, Soccer, I Just Love It (illustrated by Tom Jellett) will be published by Allen & Unwin in mid-2026, and is the perfect way to get young readers excited ahead of the World Cup.
Alister’s debut picture book, Cricket, I Just Love It, is a funny and quirky celebration of Australia’s favourite summer sport, cricket, and was published by Allen & Unwin in late 2021. This was following by The Backyard Games in 2024, an exuberantly written and illustrated celebration of summer and sport.
A Devil of a Time, was published in 2025 by Hardie Grant in partnership with the AFL and the Tassie Devils AFL team, and celebrates the history and evolution of the Tasmania Football Club, ahead of its entrance to the AFL in 2028.
