Scott Stuart is a best-selling Melbourne-based illustrator/author and the father of a nine-year-old boy who loves all things Queen Elsa and princesses. Having worked at The Royal Children’s Hospital, he has seen how important it is for children to feel represented and is committed to creating stories of empowerment.
His first picture book My Shadow is Pink was published by Larrikin House in 2020 to critical acclaim around the world, with a short film also produced in 2022 and a TV series optioned. My Shadow is Pink was named in the Top Five Best Picture Books by the Guardian in 2026. Two further books in the series, My Shadow is Purple and My Shadow is Blue, were published in 2022 and 2025 respectively.
Scott is also the author of the junior graphic novel series, Sapphire and the Monster Hunters, published by Scholastic.
Other recent titles include Before You Close Your Eyes (Hardie Grant, 2026) Bedtime Stories for Hard Days (Hardie Grant, 2023), based on his viral TikTok videos, and Brain (Is Not) Always Right (Scholastic, 2023), How to be a Real Man (2021), The Very First You (2021, Hardie Grant/Bright Lights) and Alone (Hardie Grant/Bright Lights, 2022). Who’s a Goose and the follow-up Who’s a Little Goose, were published in 2021 and 2022 through Scholastic Books. Scott also recently illustrated the picture book, Don’t Fall for The Trick by Jennifer Bain and published by Affirm Press.
